Megadeth is an American thrash metal band formed in 1983 by guitarist and vocalist Dave Mustaine and bassist David Ellefson. They are considered one of the pioneers of thrash metal, participating alongside bands like Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax in the "Big Four" of the genre. Megadeth have released many successful debuts and albums, with the most well-known being "Rust in Peace." Characteristic of their sound are the complex guitar arrangements and the political and social lyrics. The band's journey includes notable changes in their lineup, but they consistently maintain their influence and popularity in the metal scene.
