In 1992, Dave Mustaine with his band Megadeth released Countdown To Extinction, which is the band's fifth album.
The compositions belong to all the members of the band and the album's sound leans more towards heavy metal and not thrash, while it is the first album cover of Megadeth that does not feature their mascot, Vic Rattlehead.
In the USA, Countdown To Extinction has sold over 2,000,000 copies.
