About the album Hell Awaits
And somewhere here with Hell Awaits in 1985, Slayer began to show their true intentions for where they wanted to take their music and, by extension, thrash metal. Hell Awaits is the second studio album by the Californian thrashers and catches everyone off guard.
Hell Awaits instills terror from its title and cover to the song titles and, of course, with the rawness, roughness, and speed of the compositions themselves. The riffs on the guitars are overwhelming, Tom Araya "spits" every word, and Dave Lombardo tries to break the drums.
Although in 1985 — as expected — it did not manage to become significantly known, today its sales are estimated at around 1,000,000 copies. Almost all of its songs have been covered in later years by other newer bands in the thrash metal scene.
