Paranoid by Black Sabbath
About the album Paranoid
The second album by Black Sabbath in 1970 is a fact and it is titled Paranoid, named after a song that was literally written on the fly but was destined to become the band's landmark song. This particular album was another step towards heavy metal. In the USA, it was released on January 7, 1971. This changed the initial intention to name the record War Pigs, but it was assessed that Paranoid as a single would fare better. Whoever thought of that struck gold.
A lot has been said about this particular album, but the most extreme story related to it is that Paranoid was blamed for the suicide of nurse Hillary Pollard after ingesting pills, as the record was found playing on the turntable at the time of her death.
In Britain, it reached No. 1 and in the USA, No. 12. The production was handled by Rodger Bain, who also produced Black Sabbath's first album and the next one as well.
