About the album The Triumph Of Steel

The seventh studio album of Manowar was released in 1992, four whole years after Kings Of Metal. Manowar seems to return to the aggressive sound with which they had introduced themselves to the world of heavy metal ten years prior. Power metal and speed metal – in several instances – are present once again.

Triumph Of Steel has surely earned a place among the most notable and interesting albums of the band. The entire project becomes even more intriguing if one listens to the opening song of the album, the over 28-minute-long Achilles, Agony And Ecstasy In Eight Parts, which is nothing other than a presentation of Homer's Iliad. Despite the fact that Greek mythology has occasionally provided several heavy metal bands with material for songs, no one expected something like this (!) The truth is that such a lengthy composition was obviously intended to become a standalone album, but in the end, it didn't happen.

The album was highly successful in Germany. It reached No. 8 and sold 250,000 copies.
