Manowar is an American heavy metal band, formed in 1980 in Auburn, New York. Founding members were Joey DeMaio (bass) and Ross "The Boss" Friedman (guitar), and the band is known for the thematic content of its lyrics, which often focus on epic battles, mythology, and the brotherhood of warriors. Manowar have been recognized for their dynamic and intense stage presence, as well as for their volume records during live performances. They have released many successful albums, notably "Kings of Metal" and "Warriors of the World". Manowar remain a point of reference for the power metal genre and have built a devoted fan base worldwide.
