About the album (Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd)
The debut of these youngsters from Florida, USA in 1973 managed to put southern rock on the world map. Most of the songs were ready as they presented them live at local clubs in their area.
At one of these performances, Al Kooper heard them and signed them to a contract with RCA Records, and their lives took a completely different turn. Al Kooper produced the album. At some point, the band members clashed with Al Kooper because, as the producer, he insisted that the song Simple Man not be recorded (!) as he found it too weak to be included on the album. Lynyrd Skynyrd literally kicked him out of the studio and recorded it themselves.
Lynyrd Skynyrd will offer the rock audience one of the best classic rock albums with sales now exceeding 2,000,000 copies.
