Group
Lynyrd Skynyrd is an American rock band formed in 1964 in Jacksonville, Florida. They are widely known for their distinctive Southern rock sound and iconic tracks like "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird." The band initially went by the name My Backyard, then changed to The Noble Five and The One Percent, before settling on Lynyrd Skynyrd. Their career was tragically interrupted in 1977 following a plane crash that claimed the lives of lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines, and other crew members. Despite the tragedy, the band reunited in 1987 and continues to tour and record, maintaining a significant influence on the music scene.
