About the album Bricks Are Heavy

The L7 band from Los Angeles is recording their third studio album in November, which will be released in April 1992 under the title Bricks Are Heavy. This particular album is an enjoyable example of what can happen when punk-rock meets grunge and partly also alternative metal. The production by Butch Vig played an important role in the final outcome.

Bricks Are Heavy contains eleven songs that are compositions by three of the four girls who made up the band, namely Donita Sparks (guitar/vocals), Suzanne Gardner (guitar/vocals), and Jennifer Finch (bass). Three tracks from the album stood out as singles: Pretend We're Dead, Everglade, and Monster.

Bricks Are Heavy did not manage to achieve any massive commercial success. It barely surpassed 350,000 sales in the U.S., reaching No. 160 at the time of its release. Surprisingly, the album had a greater impact in the United Kingdom, where it reached No. 24 on the charts there.
