Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division
About the album Unknown Pleasures
Unknown Pleasures was the debut of Joy Division. It was recorded within three weeks of April 1979 and released on June 15 of the same year. Its sound, innovative and influential, ranks it among the best albums of all time. Factory Records almost initially ignored it and did not release any singles.
It was the only Joy Division album for which Ian Curtis was alive at the time of its release.
Producer Martin Hannett also contributed greatly to bringing out the album's dark atmosphere.
