Joy Division

Joy Division

Group
Joy Division were an English post-punk band formed in Salford in 1976. The original lineup included Ian Curtis (vocals), Bernard Sumner (guitar and keyboards), Peter Hook (bass), and Stephen Morris (drums). Their music was characterized by a dark and melancholic atmosphere, blending punk with new sonic elements. Joy Division released two studio albums, "Unknown Pleasures" in 1979 and "Closer" in 1980. Unfortunately, the band disbanded in 1980 with the suicide of Ian Curtis, but their influence on the music scene continues to be profound and enduring, paving the way for bands of the 1980s and beyond. After the dissolution of Joy Division, the remaining members formed New Order.
