About the album I Love Rock 'n Roll
Joan Jett forms her band, the Blackhearts, and in the summer of 1981 records her second studio album titled I Love Rock 'n Roll. The title track is a cover of the British band Arrows' song from 1975.
The entire success of the album was based and achieved on the song I Love Rock 'n Roll. Joan Jett built her entire career on the inspiration she had to cover this particular song, whose success cast a heavy shadow over any other song on the album.
The album reached No. 2 on the Billboard chart and sold 1,000,000 copies in the U.S. Joan Jett was never able to surpass this enormous success.
