The Swing  by INXS

In 1984, the Australian band INXS released their fourth album titled The Swing. By then, they had managed to gain recognition in their homeland and were now aiming to become known to the rest of the world. The Swing was their first attempt to achieve success beyond Australia, especially in the USA.

For this reason, at the end of 1983, INXS was in New York, and with producer Nile Rodgers, they recorded Original Sin, which would become the first single from The Swing the following year. The single did not succeed in the USA, but it became their first single to reach No.1 in Australia. In the production of the other songs, we have producer Nick Launay, who maintained the new wave flavor in the sound of INXS.

The Swing sold over 400,000 copies in Australia and another 1,000,000 in the USA. It was the first step in their subsequent evolution into a global pop phenomenon.
