Shabooh Shoobah by INXS
About the album Shabooh Shoobah
The Australians INXS release their third album, Shabooh Shoobah, in the global market in October 1982, and for the first time in their career, they taste success not only in their homeland but also in the United States of America. The album debuted on the American Billboard 200 on March 19, 1983, eventually reaching No. 46. The sound of the record is the epitome of new wave, but it openly flirts with pop success as well.
The name Shabooh Shoobah is a rhythm name from the song Spy Of Love, which Michael Hutchence (singer) was humming during the recordings. It is considered their last album with a pure new wave sound before they turned to more rock and funk directions.
Thanks to the album's success in the U.S., INXS started their first American tour in March 1983, opening shows for artists such as Adam Ant, the Stray Cats, and the Kinks. One of the most iconic moments for the band was their appearance at the US Festival in May 1983 in California. This concert was officially released as a live recording in 2022 for the 40th anniversary of the album.
