Skeletá by Ghost
About the album Skeletá
Skeletá is the sixth studio album by the Swedish rock band Ghost, which was released on April 25, 2025, through Loma Vista Recordings. It marks a milestone for the band, as it became their first album to reach the top of the American Billboard 200.
The album has an "arena-ready" orientation with strong melodic elements from the 80s AOR (influences from Styx and Def Leppard), rich reverb, and prog touches. It seems to be a combination of heavy metal, classic rock, and occult rock. The production was signed by the band's leader, Tobias Forge, under the pseudonym Gene Walker. The album explores deeply personal and internal emotions, focusing on mortality, immortality, and self-awareness. In contrast to previous albums (such as Impera, which dealt with the rise and fall of empires), Skeletá is described as a "dialogue with ourselves in the mirror." The cover depicts symbolic images of skeletons and bones, with references to mausoleum reflections, emphasizing the theme of death and eternity.
Besides reaching No. 1 in the U.S., Ghost's Skeletá also reached No. 1 in Sweden, Germany, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, and Finland, while it entered the Top 10 in Greece.
