About the album From Elvis Ιn Memphis
As strange as it may sound, From Elvis In Memphis from 1969 is Elvis Presley's ninth studio album after fifteen-plus years at a time when artists did not hesitate to release two or three albums in the same year. The reason is that after 1960, Presley's manager, Colonel Tom Parker, had convinced him to focus on cinema, either starring in films or recording soundtracks for them.
From Elvis In Memphis marks Elvis Presley's return to regular discography. In the late '60s, among the many musical genres that had emerged was southern soul. While you can't clearly say that the album belongs to soul, its influences are evident, and there is also a strong country element in many of the songs. In other songs, it is clear that Presley sings blues. The album was recorded on scattered dates in January and February 1969. From this album, the stunning performance in In The Ghetto stood out and remained, which was also the one and only single from the record.
Elvis Presley with From Elvis In Memphis reached No.1 in England and No.13 in his homeland, where it sold 500,000 copies and went gold.
