Black Tie White Noise by David Bowie
About the album Black Tie White Noise
David Bowie releases his eighteenth studio album in 1993 after a six-year absence from recording. This followed two albums with the band he created, Tin Machine, and his marriage to model Iman. Black Tie White Noise is an album whose sound combines art rock with elements of electronic music and soul.
The album is largely influenced by his marriage, something that becomes quite evident from the album's start. Bowie seems to enjoy his new situation, and it shows. The dark moments of the album are the song Jump They Say, which is related to the suicide of Bowie's schizophrenic half-brother in 1985, and Black Tie White Noise, which deals with the riots that took place the previous year in Los Angeles. Responsible for the album's production are Bowie along with Nile Rodgers.
While it reached No.1 in Great Britain, it reached No.39 on the Billboard in the United States.
