About the album The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars
Ziggy Stardust from 1972 is a rock chapter in itself. A concept album that talks about Ziggy who is sent to Earth from Mars and lives his adventures on our planet. Many critics have also treated it as a rock opera.
The full title is The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders from Mars with Bowie being Ziggy and the Spiders From Mars being his band. The music moves between glam, soul, and proto-punk. The album cover also has its own story. Originally, the photo shoot was supposed to be done with the entire band present. Initially, David Bowie went outside the studio with the photographer Brian Ward. But it had gotten dark and on top of that Bowie was sick and had to go back inside quickly. So he stood at a random spot on Heddon Street and the photographer took some black and white photos and that was the end of it. It was then edited, and this is how we have the cover of one of the most legendary albums of all time.
The flawless production of the album is credited to Bowie himself and Ken Scott. The album has reached 7,500,000 sales worldwide.
