Across 110th Street by Bobby Womack
About the album Across 110th Street
"Across 110th Street" is a 1972 American neo-noir action film directed by Barry Shear. Adapted from the novel "Across 110th" by Wally Ferris, the film is set in Harlem and takes its name from 110th Street, the traditional dividing line between Harlem and Central Park, which served as an unofficial boundary of race and class in 1970s New York. The film received negative reviews upon its release for its violent content.
The soundtrack of the film was "shared" by Bobby Womack and composer J.J. Johnson. The compositions of the album are a mix of jazz, rock, funk, and soul music.
The OST reached No. 56 on the Billboard. The title song, written and performed by Bobby Womack, came back into the limelight when Quentin Tarantino included it in his 1997 film “Jackie Brown.”
