In line with the popular habit of that era, Lloyd Price gathered his hits from the last few years from singles and released them in an LP album, The Exciting Lloyd Price, in March 1959.
The album includes the 1952 hit Lawdy Miss Clawdy and Stagger Lee (a cover of a folk song from 1923). The producer of The Exciting Lloyd Price was Don Costa.
Stagger Lee was one of the biggest hits of 1959 in the U.S. It sold 1,000,000 copies (!)
