In 1986, Robert Cray reached great success with the release of Strong Persuader, his fifth album.
Cray follows the same formula, namely blues and soul, and accompanied by a very good group of musicians in the studio, he creates a blues album with a fresh sound of his time. Significant is the contribution to the production by Bruce Bromberg and Dennis Walker, who offer him a crystal-clear sound.
In the U.S. alone, the album reached 2,000,000 sales, while Robert Cray became known beyond the U.S. through MTV.
