Together Through Life by Bob Dylan
About the album Together Through Life
Bob Dylan's thirty-third studio album was released in April 2009 under the title Together Through Life. It is a blues rock album with strong folk-rock elements, which are evident from the very first song of the record, which was the one and only single from it, Beyond Here Lies Nothin'. Bob Dylan himself took care of the production of his album, but he signs it as Jack Frost. The album was recorded in December 2008 at Groove Masters studio in Santa Monica, California, which belongs to Jackson Browne.
The lyrics of nine out of the ten songs on the album are written in collaboration between Bob Dylan and Robert Hunter of the Grateful Dead, while the music belongs to Bob Dylan except for the song My Wife's Home Town whose music is credited to Dylan and Willie Dixon as it is based on the latter's I Just Want To Make Love To You. The black-and-white cover photo is a shot by American photographer Bruce L. Davidson, which shows a young couple in the back of a car. The photo was taken in 1959.
The best statement about the album and what its reception will be has been made by its creator himself: “I know the fans of my music will like it. For the rest, I have no idea.” Together Through Life reached No.1 in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Sales of the album have exceeded 1,000,000 copies worldwide.
