About the album Tyranny And Mutation
Tyranny And Mutation is the second recording effort of the New Yorkers, Blue Oyster Cult. The sound of the album clearly moves within hard rock. The producer Sandy Pearlman and Murray Krugman were in charge of the album's production.
The record was recorded at Columbia Studios in New York in 1972, but it was released in February 1973. The performances of the songs are divided between Eric Bloom - primarily - and Joe Bouchard, secondarily. The song that opens the second side of the record, Baby Ice Dog, also bears the signature of Patti Smith.
At the time of its release, the album went unnoticed and most music critics who dealt with it did not give it the best of reviews. Its position on the Billboard charts was No. 122. Nowadays, Tyranny And Mutation is considered a classic album of the band's early period.
