About the album License To Kill

The Beastie Boys create something that hardly anyone could have imagined a few years before 1986: the perfectly balanced presence of rock and hip-hop on a record. And all this under the guidance of Rick Rubin in production, with whom they disagreed and quarreled, resulting in their departure from Def Jam which belonged to the producer.

The group's initial intention was to name the album Don't Be a Faggot, something that Columbia Records, which was responsible for distributing the album, rejected outright. License To Ill is one of the albums that paved the way and brought together musical genres that seemed unbridgeable.

The songs Fight For Your Right and No Sleep Till Brooklyn were loved everywhere. In the USA, the album has sold over 10,000,000 copies.
