About the album Radio

The 17-year-old – at the time – LL Cool J makes his recording debut with his debut, Radio. The name of the album stems from the cover image as the title is not written anywhere. Thus, Radio, as an album, captures the image of New York streets in the mid-eighties forever until the last second.

Behind the whole endeavor is Rick Rubin in the "minimalist" production and composition of all the songs.

The album is now a legendary album for the hip hop community. It has sold over 1,000,000 copies in the U.S. Radio in its entirety is a powerful remembrance of bygone times and a crucial piece of the evolution of hip hop music.
