Muscle Of Love by Alice Cooper
About the album Muscle Of Love
Muscle Of Love is a pivotal point in the history of Alice Cooper, as it was the seventh and final studio album of the original band before Vincent Furnier adopted the name as a solo artist. It was released on November 20, 1973, by Warner Bros. Records. The band played their last concert a few months later promoting the record and then disbanded.
The musical style of the album marked a return to a more straightforward hard rock and rock 'n' roll sound, leaving behind the heavily theatrical productions of its predecessors (School's Out, Billion Dollar Babies). It includes elements of glam rock, garage rock, and even jazz-rock touches. This was obviously related to the fact that at the helm of production were not Bob Ezrin, but Jack Richardson and Jack Douglas. The recording took place in 1973 at various studios, such as Sunset Sound (Hollywood), Record Plant (New York), and at the band's mansion (The Cooper Mansion) in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Although considered notable, the album was characterized as a "commercial disappointment" compared to the massive success of Billion Dollar Babies. It reached No10 on the Billboard 200 in the USA and No34 in the United Kingdom. The most successful single was Teenage Lament, which reached No48. It went gold in the USA (over 500,000 copies), but failed to reach the platinum status of previous albums.
