About the album Alice Cooper Goes To Hell

The album Alice Cooper Goes To Hell was released in June 1976 by Warner Bros. Records. It is Alice Cooper's second solo album and is a concept album that continues the story of the character "Steven" from the previous album, Welcome To My Nightmare. The record was recorded under the supervision of his long-time collaborator, Bob Ezrin.

The album cover is considered one of the most iconic of the era, depicting Alice Cooper with his classic makeup appearing "submerged" or looking through a fiery background. It was designed by Brian Hagiwara and Rod Dyer, with photography by Bret Lopez. It was recorded at three different studios: Soundstage (Toronto), Record Plant East (New York), and RCA Recording Studios (Los Angeles). The production cost approached $100,000. Cooper wrote the track I Never Cry as an "alcoholic's confession" about his own drinking problem, which led him to a rehabilitation center a year later. "I Never Cry" was the album's biggest hit, reaching No. 12 on the American charts and being his only gold single until Poison in 1989.

The album Alice Cooper Goes To Hell reached No. 27 on the U.S. Billboard 200, No. 23 in the United Kingdom, and its highest position at No. 4 in Australia.
