About the album Rocks
A year after the great success of Toys In The Attic, the Boston-based band Aerosmith returned in 1976 with Rocks and continued their successful path. They once again trusted Jack Douglas with the production, who created a well-tightened and hard sound that highlighted their fourth album. Rocks reached No. 3 on the Billboard, selling 4,000,000 copies in their country alone.
Producer Jack Douglas recalls that during the recordings, extensive drug use occurred in the studio - mainly cocaine - in order to finish the album's preparations faster. This, combined with the recklessness that resulted from the large sums of money they were now receiving due to the success of their previous albums, marked the beginning of the downfall for Aerosmith, and this became evident before the end of the '70s.
For many, it is the pinnacle of Aerosmith's work in the '70s and undoubtedly stands among the top albums of their long - and full of ups and downs - career. Among those who have spoken flatteringly about Rocks are members of Metallica, Guns 'n' Roses, and Nirvana.
