About the album Pump
Pump, the tenth album by Aerosmith in 1989, became the fourth best-selling album in the U.S. the following year with the 7,000,000 copies it sold. It released four singles that entered the Billboard Top-40 and confirmed that the band from Boston was on an upward trajectory. The compositions of the album draw inspiration from the dominant - at the time - trend of hard rock, from glam metal.
Aerosmith initially composed nineteen songs and after a selection process with the help of producer Bruce Fairbairn, they ended up with the ten that appeared on the album.
Pump reached No. 5 in the U.S., while in the UK it reached No. 3. Thus, Aerosmith are at the top of hard rock and feature among the biggest glam metal bands of that era, having almost double the age of those bands.
