About the album Get A Grip

The eleventh album for the hard rock band from Boston will come in 1993 and will be titled Get A Grip. After a four-year recording absence, Aerosmith returns and achieves the greatest commercial success in their entire career.

In Get A Grip, Aerosmith presents a series of hard rock compositions that have it all. Rhythmic glam metal songs, hard rock ballads, boogie songs, and in general the album was crafted in the best possible way to produce hits, and it succeeded. Five out of the six singles from the album reached the Top-5 on the Billboard chart concerning rock hits. The songs that make up the album are compositions by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, but in collaboration with other artists or composers who were proven to know how to write hits. Thus, there were collaborations with Desmond Child, Lenny Kravitz, Jim Vallance, and several others.

At the time Get A Grip was released, it sounded out of place since the “craze” with glam metal was a thing of the past as a music trend in the USA and elsewhere. Despite this, the album sold 20,000,000 copies worldwide and is likely to be the last commercially successful glam metal album released.
