Powerage by AC/DC
About the album Powerage
Powerage was the fourth studio album by the Australian band AC/DC. The band had started writing the songs for this album in the summer of 1977. A significant change that had occurred was that bassist Mark Evans had been fired because the Young brothers could not stand to see him any longer. He was replaced by Cliff Williams, for whom this was his first appearance on an AC/DC album and since then he has had an almost uninterrupted presence in the band.
The album was released in May 1978 and immediately after that summer, AC/DC found themselves touring for the first time in the U.S. in order to make their presence and their songs known there. Initially, Powerage also went unnoticed, reaching only No. 133 on the Billboard charts. Over the years, with the huge popularity that the band gained in the following few years, it has managed to go platinum. Powerage has been praised by other legendary rock guitarists like Slash, Keith Richards, and Joe Perry.
Angus Young, Malcolm Young, and Bon Scott were the composers of all the songs, while the album was produced by Harry Vanda and George Young.
