2Pacalypse Now by 2Pac
About the album 2Pacalypse Now
2Pacalypse Now is 2Pac's debut solo album, which laid the groundwork for his later career as a socially conscious artist. The production was mainly undertaken by The Underground Railroad (a group from Digital Underground), including Shock G, Big D the Impossible, Pee-Wee, and Live Squad.
The album was recorded in Richmond, California. The album was recorded while 2Pac was still a member of Digital Underground. The album uses a variety of samples from classic artists, such as Bill Withers from Ain't No Sunshine in Soulja's Story or Stevie Wonder's Part-Time Lover in Part Time Mutha. The song lyrics have a strongly political and social tone, focusing on racism, police brutality, and poverty in the USA. There were three singles from 2Pacalypse Now: Trapped, Brenda's Got A Baby, and If My Homie Calls.
The album reached No. 64 on the Billboard 200 and in 1995 managed to become gold in the United States.
