The Unforgettable Fire by U2
About the album The Unforgettable Fire
In 1984 the Irish had managed to build a very good reputation around their name with the three studio albums and whatever else they had released. They had established themselves as a promising post-punk band. And this is where they make a musical turn with their fourth album called The Unforgettable Fire. The title was a reference to the atomic bomb explosion in Hiroshima.
In order to achieve the musical change they wanted, the band along with producers Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois withdrew to Slane Castle in Ireland in May 1984 and recorded an atmospheric album, which does not resemble their previous works. Of course, the change is due to the producers who are with them.
The Unforgettable Fire is received with rave reviews and reaches No.1 in Britain and No.12 in the US, just as had happened with War two years before.
