Rattle And Hum by U2
About the album Rattle And Hum
The sixth album by U2 was a hybrid: New songs, covers, live recordings of new songs, etc. The title Rattle And Hum comes from a lyric in Bullet The Blue Sky. In reality, Rattle And Hum is the result of what U2 felt and experienced touring the USA the previous year during The Joshua Tree Tour. Besides the album, there was also a film of the same name, which, however, has considerably different content.
In Rattle And Hum, we watch U2's attempt to pay tribute to big names in rock, blues, and soul music from previous decades. Thus we have songs dedicated to an artist (e.g., Angel Of Harlem is about Billie Holiday), songs in collaboration with an artist (e.g., Love Rescue Me with Bob Dylan and When Love Comes To Town with B.B. King), songs heavily influenced by the style of an artist (e.g., Desire is influenced by the style of Bo Diddley), etc.
The album's sales tally reaches 14,000,000 copies worldwide. In its production, we have Jimmy Iovine. It is now evident that U2 has moved to another level, far from the neighborhoods of Dublin where they started about ten years ago.
