Medusa by Trapeze
About the album Medusa
Trapeze, a blues rock band from the town of Cannock in England, formed in 1969 and released two albums the following year. Medusa was the second one, released in 1970. The lineup of Trapeze at that time included Glenn Hughes (later a member of Deep Purple), Dave Holland (later a member of Judas Priest), and Mel Galley (later a member of Whitesnake).
As one listens to the songs of Medusa, they have the opportunity to understand how British blues rock evolves and changes into hard rock. The production is by John Lodge (bassist/composer of the Moody Blues), while most of the songs were written by Mel Galley.
Trapeze's Medusa belongs to that category of albums which did not achieve tremendous success either in their time or in the subsequent years, but one cannot ignore it for how ahead of its time it was and how much it prepared the developments that would come in rock music in the immediately following years.
