About the album The Healer
The blues legend from Mississippi releases The Healer in 1989. John Lee Hooker is 73 years old, and it is his album that reaches the highest position on the U.S. charts, reaching No. 62.
The Healer was essentially a gathering of other later blues and rock music figures who came to support their idol. Thus, Carlos Santana, Bonnie Raitt, George Thorogood, Los Lobos, Canned Heat, Robert Cray, and Charlie Musselwhite were there to give their best - and they did.
The Healer won the Grammy for Best Traditional Blues Album of the year, and its commercial success provided John Lee Hooker with enough money to live comfortably until his death in 2001.
