In February 1981, JJ Cale released the sixth album of his career, a very laid-back and well-crafted album.
In the production of Shades, we again find his regular producer Audie Ashworth.
The album continues the tradition of JJ Cale being more loved away from his homeland. Thus, in the U.S., it reached No. 110, in Britain No. 44, in Norway No. 8, and in France No. 2 (!)
