Vagabonds Of The Western World by Thin Lizzy
About the album Vagabonds Of The Western World
Vagabonds Of The Western World, recorded between April 11 and July 19, 1973, is the third studio album by the Irish hard rock/blues rock band. This particular album is the third and final album for which Thin Lizzy collaborated with producer Nick Tauber.
Thin Lizzy slowly begin to shape their sound with Vagabonds Of The Western World, the sound that characterized the albums released from the mid-1970s to the end of the decade. A hallmark of the sound that was coming was The Rocker, which reached No. 11 in Ireland as a single, as well as the album's title track. Many believe that the successful cover of the traditional Whisky In The Jar is found here, but this is not the case. The song was released in 1972 as a single and was included in a reissue of Vagabonds Of The Western World on CD in 1991 as a bonus track. The album also includes the participation of Gary Moore on the track Slow Blues, as well as on some others that were left out of the album's first release in 1973.
Vagabonds Of The Western World did not manage to make an appreciable impact on any music charts. The distinctive cover of the album was the work of Irish designer Jim Fitzpatrick.
