About the album Thunder And Lightning

Thunder And Lightning from 1983 is the twelfth and final studio album by Thin Lizzy, marking their journey with a particularly aggressive and "metal" sound. It was "sealed" by the collaboration of Thin Lizzy with producer Chris Tsangarides, which is why its style is particularly aggressive and "metal." Another change was the addition of John Sykes to the ranks of the group and his guitar, who replaced Snowy White, bringing with him a more modern and heavy sound.

The recording and mixing of Thunder And Lightning took place at Lombard Studios in Dublin, as well as at Power Plant and Boathouse in London. The sound of the album was heavily influenced by the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM), making it the heaviest release of the band. Songs that stood out as singles: Singles: The title track Thunder And Lightning, Cold Sweat (with Sykes' iconic solo), and the ballad The Sun Goes Down. Unlike the complex, Celtic covers by Jim FitzPatrick that characterized their previous works, the cover of Thunder And Lightning adopted a harder, "metal" aesthetic to match the new sound the band had adopted.

It reached No. 4 on the UK charts, remaining in the top 100 for eleven weeks. The album was followed by a farewell tour, which was recorded on the live album Life. Despite the success, the period was marked by Lynott's personal issues and addiction. It was the legendary band's last album before Phil Lynott's death in 1986.
