About the album Modern Blues
Thirty years after the success of This Is The Sea, the Waterboys, led by Mike Scott, present the eleventh album of their career, Modern Blues, a record that lives up to its title 100%. Mike Scott composes and records nine blues rock compositions with a modern and fresh air. In some of them, he has the help of James Maddock on songs like November Tale and Beautiful Now, which played the role of the album's two singles.
Modern Blues won over almost all music critics who described it as the band's best work since the era of This Is The Sea and Fisherman’s Blues. To record the album, the Waterboys moved to Nashville to capture the Southern vibe, something that was expressed even on the album cover. Among the people who worked on this record, we must mention the Irish violin virtuoso Steve Wickham, as well as the American Bob Clearmountain who mixed the songs.
Modern Blues reached No. 16 in the United Kingdom and No. 10 in both Ireland and Norway.
