Aural Sculpture by The Stranglers
About the album Aural Sculpture
The Stranglers, with their eighth studio album, Aural Sculpture, attempt to maintain their new wave approach while also adapting to the musical reality of the new decade. Their musical style does not at all resemble the works they had presented in the second half of the previous decade. A pop aesthetic prevails, which by no means can be characterized as cheap and crude.
In Aural Sculpture, they collaborate with producer Laurie Latham, who was recommended by the people from their record label, Epic Records. He had the idea for the Stranglers to include brass instruments in their compositions, something that had never happened before. The song that stood out from the album was No Mercy, which became one of the band's very big hits.
The album reached No.14 in Great Britain.
