10 by The Stranglers
About the album 10
The designers of the cover of 10, the tenth album by the Stranglers, were inspired to create a photograph that would feature ten of the greatest political figures of the time around a microphone. This was the cover of the tenth album by the Stranglers, which was released in 1990.
Producer Roy Thomas Baker was chosen by the record company to oversee the Stranglers' compositions in order for 10 to succeed in the United States of America. The singer of the Stranglers, Hugh Cornwell, has stated that the band members accepted the record company's proposal for the producer in order to achieve success in the U.S.
10 received the worst reviews, and it is remarkable how 96 Tears emerged and survived as a single. The album reached No. 15 in Britain, but in the U.S. it went completely unnoticed. Sweet Smell Of Success, which was the second single from 10, was never confirmed.
