About the album All Fall Down

The Sound's 1982 album All Fall Down is the third release by the English post-punk band. The record's musical style navigates an abstract post-punk soundscape featuring intense minimalist and electronic elements, jagged guitars, mechanical handclaps, and experimental effects.

The creation of the record conceals an act of artistic defiance. Their record label, WEA, put intense pressure on them to write a more commercial album. The band reacted by doing exactly the opposite: they created an album that was consciously non-commercial, experimental, and dark. The recording took place between March and August 1982 at the famous The Manor and Trident Studios. The primary creator and songwriter was the charismatic yet troubled Adrian Borland. What is special about this record is that, despite the initial rejection by critics of the era, it is considered today by fans of the genre as an overlooked, authentic masterpiece of the 1980s.

The album did not achieve commercial success. In fact, the label was so disappointed that they did not release any singles and soon dropped them from their contract. Standout tracks include "Monument", "Party Of The Mind", and "Where The Love Is".
