The Smiths, between their first and second official studio albums, release a compilation titled Hatful Of Hollow. The compilation will hit the market in November 1984 and over the years will come to be among the masterful releases of this significant and esteemed British indie rock and pop music group.
Hatful Of Hollow consists of the A-side and B-side of the singles William, It Was Really Nothing and Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now, Hand In Glove in a remix, seven songs recorded for John Peel's show on BBC, and three recorded for David Jensen's show, also on BBC. The recordings for the BBC were done in 1983, while the singles were released in May and August 1984. The songs are signed by Morrissey and Johnny Marr.
The album reached No. 10 in the United Kingdom, where it sold 600,000 copies.
