About the album The Queen Is Dead
Someone who enjoys British pop of the 1980s will find it difficult to find a more complete album than The Queen Is Dead, the third album by the Smiths. Provocative from its title and even from its cover, which features the dead Frenchman Alain Delon from the 1964 film “L'Insoumis,” this album is a legend and represents the creative pinnacle of the band.
The album was recorded during the second half of 1985 and early 1986. Its producers were Morrissey and Johnny Marr.
The Queen Is Dead stayed on the UK charts and reached No. 2, selling 300,000 copies. In the USA, it reached No. 70.
