About the album Parachutes
The Londoners Coldplay achieved with their very first album, Parachutes of 2000, to become a big name in the alternative pop/rock community. Parachutes was released somewhere at the end of britpop and incorporates many of its elements but presents them in a more low tempo approach.
The cover features a photograph of a globe, which was purchased for 10 British pounds and photographed with a makeshift Kodak camera.
The success of the album was so great that Coldplay embarked on a tour of 131 performances worldwide. In their homeland, Parachutes has now become 9 times platinum.
