About the album (I'm) Stranded

The Australian Saints recorded their first album in June and December of 1976. The album (I'm) Stranded, released in 1977, marks the debut of the Australian band The Saints and is considered one of the most significant pillars in the history of punk rock worldwide.

The style of the album is characterized by a raw, explosive, and "dirty" sound that chronologically preceded many classic British punk albums. It combines the energy of proto-punk (like that of the Stooges and MC5) with the fast tempo of rock 'n' roll. The production is intentionally rough, with Ed Kuepper's guitars dominating through a continuous "wall of sound" and Chris Bailey's vocals exuding a characteristic apathy and cynicism. The title track is the ultimate anthem of the group, with an iconic riff that defined their sound.

Although the album initially did not achieve great commercial success in Australia, its impact was immense abroad. In 2007, the National Library of Australia included the album in the "Sounds of Australia" archive, acknowledging its cultural significance.
