About the album Out Of Our Heads
In September 1965, the Rolling Stones released their third album in Britain titled Out Of Our Heads. Two months earlier, an album with the same title but a quite different song content and different cover had been released in the U.S. The American edition contains (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction, which became the first Rolling Stones single to reach No. 1 on the Billboard.
Once again, the production was undertaken by Andrew Loog Oldham. The songs Gotta Get Away, Heart of Stone, and I'm Free are three compositions by Jagger and Richards included in the British edition of the album.
Here, the Rolling Stones cover songs that had been hits with the voices of Solomon Burke, Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, and others. The song The Under Assistant West Coast Promotion Man is credited to a composer named Nanker Phelge. In reality, it was a pseudonym used by the band at the time for songs they had written together (!), even including Andrew Loog Oldham, who also earned additional money from the sales.
