About the album If I Should Fall From Grace With God

If I Should Fall From Grace With God, the third studio album by the Pogues, was released on January 18, 1988, and is considered by many as the band's greatest album, marking their creative and commercial peak. It was the first album where they participated as an eight-member group, with the addition of Terry Woods and Philip Chevron, who also contributed to songwriting.

In this album, the Pogues maintain their Celtic punk roots but incorporate elements from the Middle East (in Turkish Song of the Damned) and Spanish rhythms (in Fiesta). The production was done by Steve Lillywhite, who provided a more polished yet dynamic sound, highlighting the band's complex arrangements. Fairytale Of New York, If I Should Fall From Grace With God, and Fiesta were the album's singles.

The album reached No.3 on the UK charts, marking the highest position ever achieved by one of their albums. It is considered a milestone for the genre of Celtic punk, managing to bridge the gap between traditional folk and modern punk energy. The album has sold 100,000 copies in the UK, as many in France, and 50,000 in Canada.
