About the album Heartbeat City
The fifth album by the Cars led them to worldwide recognition. Their collaboration for the first time with producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange paid off to the highest degree as the sound of Heartbeat City was crystal clear, fresh, and extremely "addictive" to the listener's ears.
The album cover is an isolated piece from a painting by British artist Peter Phillips. The work is called "Art-O-Matic Loop di Loop".
The 4,000,000 copies sold in the U.S. alone attest to the album's success, as well as its six successful singles. MTV helped immensely with the incessant showcasing of music videos for songs like Drive or You Might Think.
